Event description

Description

Embroidery is a brilliant hobby that has loads of benefits for mental health, but it is an activity that is often completed alone and we know what an isolating experience it can become. Our open studio seeks to remedy this, by bringing together embroidery enthusiasts in one place to share their stories, skills and projects.

You will be able to make use of the materials we have. For the cost you will have access to:

  • A huge range of DMC thread colours. These threads are the highest quality and you will be able to use up to 10 yards per session (the length of 1 skien of thread – we can explain how this will work when you arrive!)

  • A wide range of fabrics that vary in material type, colours and designs. You will be able to choose 2 squares of fabric per session for the size of hoop you are using.

  • Embroidery hoops (each size from 4”-12”)

  • A range of soluble transfer patterns you can stick onto fabric and wash away when you’re done

  • Access to a lightbox where you can trace designs onto fabric directly (with water soluble-ink pen)

  • Reference books with instructions and ideas

Tickets are sold in 4-week blocks. These are as follows:

Mondays 5:30-8pm, 25/11/2019-16/12/2019

Mondays 5:30-8pm, 06/01/2020-27/01/2020

Mondays 5:30-8pm, 03/02/2020-24/02/2020

Mondays 5:30-8pm, 02/03/2020-23/03/2020

When purchasing your ticket, the date shown will be the first one in that block (e.g. to attend in November-December, the date will show as 25th Nov - this ticket will buy your place for this date and the 3 dates following it).

If you would like to attend one or two dates, please contact us directly for the cost.

Please note, the open studio is not a formal workshop and therefore there will be no teaching in the session. It is a chance for those who practice embroidery regularly or have attended previous workshops to develop their skills in a social setting. Not suitable for beginners.

In partnership with NOMA and The Old Bank Residency.
