You are a trained coach or mentor, you have been practising for at least two years and you have had some great feedback from clients.
Yet for some reason, you have not yet achieved an individual accreditation with EMCC Global.
We have found that there are usually just a few things that prevent people from achieving their professional designation – sometimes it’s that they can’t find the paperwork, or have questions about their experience, or get sidetracked, or can’t find client feedback etc. Sometimes they are just not aware of accreditation!
Join us for a week of in-depth dynamic enquiry and reflection, as we help you identify what you need for your application, help you overcome barriers and just get it done!
We start on Monday 8 February 2021 and have hour-long Zoom meetings every day. By the end of the week, you aim to have assembled everything you need - or will have an action plan to gain learning, training or experience - for individual accreditation with EMCC Global.
Your EMCC Global Individual Accreditation (EIA) is a designation that demonstrates you are practising at the highest levels of professionalism.
It’s straight forward: you will start the process on a Monday and be ready to submit that Friday, spending an hour or so each day on a group discussion and getting everything sourced and logged for your final submission.
What’s more, you will be part of a group of coaches and mentors who all at the same point in their career as you - these connections could last a lifetime and set up mutual support for you as you progress as a professional coach or mentor.
Be prepared for a week of professional dialogue, dynamic inquiry and solidarity - we aim to build as much value in the process as we do the destination!
Throughout the week, an EMCC Global facilitator will lead a mentoring discussion with you as part of a small peer group. If you need additional support during the week, we can organise advisor discussions for you. If you would benefit from an accountability partner, then you can set that up as well during the sessions.
By the end of the week, you will either be in a position to submit your application or have a clear action plan for any additional logs you need to find or experience you need to gain which will allow you to do so. And we will continue to support you until you get there.
Holding an EMCC Global Individual Accreditation (EIA) is a way of demonstrating to your peers and your clients that you are serious about your professional development, that you subscribe to an internally-recognised code of ethics, and that you maintain and build on the highest standards.
It shows that you are part of the EMCC Global family, and able to draw on the combined experience and expertise of some of the best-performing coaches, mentors and supervisors across the world.
One week to success:
You need to take part in all the sessions, which run daily - you will join the EMCC Global community across the world at the same time, meeting all together at the beginning before splitting into smaller groups according to your country, language or career stage.
Daily: 5.30pm-6.30pm UTC - equivalent to GMT (click here to see how that equates to your time zone)

Frequently-asked questions
How much does it cost?
The week's mentoring to support this process is free for members of EMCC Global or EMCC Global affiliated countries and regions.
Accreditation fees for EMCC members: who have completed an EMCC Global Quality Award Programme, OR an equivalent Education/Training Coaching and/or Mentoring Programme, alongside other related prior learning and experience:
Practitioner level (with at least three years' experience) €205 plus VAT if applicable (standard cost €599)
Senior practitioner level (with at least five years' experience) €245 plus VAT if applicable (standard cost €699)
Master practitioner level (by discussion) Promotional fee for members €450 plus VAT if applicable (standard cost €799)
Are the sessions recorded?
The answer is no - the sessions themselves are special for the group itself and form a trusting set of conversations. It can get quite deep in enquiry, and we find that recording the sessions stifled openness.
Do I have to attend all five sessions?
Ideally, yes. You will form part of a cohort group of peers who rely on each other for mutual support, inspiration and accountability. If you are not there, the rest of the group misses your input. Plus, it adds additional pressure on the facilitators to bring you up to speed on what you have missed - our facilitators are volunteers and so we want to use their time wisely.
What are the entry criteria for the EMCC Global Five Day Challenge?
If you have completed your education and training with an EMCC Global-accredited provider (one holding an EMCC Global Quality Award - EQA) then we are satisfied that the components of that training will have met the criteria that we expect for your individual accreditation (EIA). EMCC Global also recognises equivalent education and learning irrespective of provider but we will need reassurance of the content and standard of that learning.
As well as education/learning/training, you will need to show experience for different levels of accreditation:
- Foundation level: at least one year's experience (minimum 50 hours) and at least five clients over five years
- Practitioner level: at least three years' experience (minimum 100 hours) and at least 10 clients over three years
- Senior practitioner: at least five years' experience (minimum 250 hours) and at least 20 clients over five years
The Five Day Challenge is not suitable for people who have had no experience in coaching or mentoring, who do not (yet) meet the criteria above or who are not ready to set aside the time for the week. It could be that the Five Day Challenge is something that you do in the future, but it's not for you right now. We run Five Day Challenges every three to four months, and individual training providers and affiliated countries also sometimes run a version of the 5DC.
What are the components of accreditation?
In order to achieve your professional designation, you will need to show:
- Personal statement explaining why and how you coach, your approach, your purpose and motivation
- Education and learning
- Experience
- Commitment to ongoing supervision and logs
What does EMCC Global expect of me for the Five Day Challenge?
This 5DC is a "get it done" week of intense mentoring as you get ready to submit your application for individual accreditation with EMCC Global. It's for people who - for whatever reason - have got stuck and need a boost. We expect you to work! To make a commitment to yourself to achieve, to make a commitment to your facilitators and your group to be there. We also want you to get a massive boost from the week, to have had the opportunity to explore your practice, to make new connections and to grow.
EMCC Global sets the standards for mentoring, coaching and supervision
EMCC Global exists to develop, promote, and set the expectation of best practice in mentoring, coaching, and supervision globally for the benefit of society. Our vision is to be the ‘go to’ body in mentoring, coaching, and supervision.
Become accredited - the status and designation you earn that sets you apart as a true professional in mentoring, coaching, supervision and programme management
Becoming accredited really does set you apart from the rest. In a world where anyone can set up as a mentor or coach, clients are increasingly looking for that level of professionalism that reassures them they are choosing someone who has invested in their own knowledge and who keeps up to date. In short, they want to choose someone who knows what they are talking about and who has the experience and expertise they need to help them thrive.
If your own clients are not already accredited for their ongoing practice, then they could be missing out.
The EMCC Global Individual Accreditation (EIA) is an internationally recognised accreditation that demonstrates that an individual practising as a professional mentor and/or coach has the appropriate level of knowledge and the ability to apply it effectively in their practice, and that they continue to adhere to the GLOBAL CODE OF ETHICS, and commit to their own continued professional development, reflective practice and supervision.
Please note that the recognition of prior accredited learning within the EIA process does enable an individual with previous accredited learning i.e. an approved qualification in mentoring and/or coaching (other than EMCC) to align their qualification/s to the EMCC Global Quality Award (EQA) assessment framework and thereby be exempt from producing additional evidence of their competence when applying for their EIA accreditation.
The EMCC Global Quality Award (EQA) is an internationally recognised accreditation for providers of mentoring/coaching training to make their qualifications/training widely and immediately recognisable. This is done through linking them to professional standards. It is an integral and essential step on the path to establishing the professional credibility and status of mentoring/coaching.
EMCC has a dynamic framework for assessment based on extensive consultation and the most comprehensive competence research produced to date to inform mentoring/coaching and supervision professional standards and practice. The emphasis of the EMCC Global Accreditation process is to raise standards while acknowledging and celebrating existing excellence, prior learning and experience.
The EMCC Global Supervision Individual Award (ESIA) is an internationally recognised accreditation that demonstrates that an individual practising as a professional mentor/coach supervisor has the appropriate level of knowledge and the ability to apply it effectively in his/her practice.
The EMCC Global Supervision Quality Award (ESQA) is an internationally recognised accreditation for mentoring/coaching supervision training programmes. Programmes attaining the ESQA are recognised by the EMCC as having met stringent professional standards.
NOTE: The unique opportunity to embed the EMCC Global Individual Mentor/Coach Accreditation (EIA) and Supervision (ESIA) into the delivery of all Quality Award Programmes (EQA and ESQA) is now available for all EMCC Global Accredited Training Providers and their delegates.
The International Standards for Mentoring and Coaching Programmes (ISMCP) is an EMCC Global accreditation awarded to organisations designing, delivering, and evaluating mentoring and/or coaching programmes either ‘in-house’ or externally. It is an integral and essential step on the path to establishing the professional credibility and status of good mentoring and/or coaching programme management.
