Overview
The content meets the needs of the Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981 and the guidelines set out by the HSE. The EFAW course covers extra topics in addition to the full HSE Syllabus. These topics can be tailored to your requirements and needs.This qualification is aimed at those over 16 who are able to undertake the responsibilities associated with being a workplace emergency first aider.
Course content includes:
- Understanding the role and responsibilities of the First Aider
- Assessing an emergency situation
- First aid for a casualty who is unresponsive and breathing normally
- First Aid for a casualty who is unresponsive and not breathing (use of AED)
- Treatment for a casualty suffering from a seizure
- First Aid for a choking casualty
- First Aid treatment for external bleeding, including treatment of shock
- First Aid to a casualty with bites, stings and minor injuries including burns
Assessment
Continuous assessment by trainer, practical assessments to cover wound management, care of an unconscious casualty, CPR and a multiple choice paper
