Who is the Course Aimed at?
This introductory course is designed for anyone who is keen to have basic first aid knowledge with the focus on children and babies. Given the expected high level of demand for this course priority will be given to volunteers from local community groups and will be limited to one place per organisation. There are a maximum of 12 places.
This is an emergency first aid course so will include:
- managing an incident
- priorities of first aid
- CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation)
- disorders of circulation
- disorders of the airways
- control of bleeding, burns and scalds
By the end of the course participants will have covered first aid procedures for dealing with:
- an unconscious casualty
- recovery position
- cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (C.P.R)
- bleeding, shock, burns, chocking and fainting
