This Emergency Paediatric First Aid course has been designed for those who care for children and infants. On the 1 day first aid course otherwise known as the PFA course students will gain the ability to recognise life-threatening bleeding and intervene effectively as well as learn basic skills ranging from small injuries to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) for both adult and child. Upon successful completion of this first aid course, students will be equipped with the essential skills needed to give safe, prompt and effective first aid in emergency situation.

· Roles & Responsibilities of the First Aider (including health & safety regulations)

· Assessing an Emergency Situation & Prioritising Action

· CPR / how to find and use an AED

· Defibrillator

· Choking adult

· Seizures

· Infection Prevention

· Severe Bleeding

· Shock and Internal Bleeding

Car parking

Assessments

Assessment is in the form of practical exercises throughout the day and a multiple-choice question paper, candidates must pass both elements to qualify.

CPR Assessments

Learners must be able to complete 2 minutes of CPR at floor level to pass the assessment.
