Description

By The Alzheimer Centre for Policy and Practice at the University of The West of Scotland in Partnership with The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Aim: To provide emergency service staff with the opportunity to develop awareness of their skills and knowledge in the presence of dementia in emergency situations.

Who: Staff from the Police, Fire, Mountain Rescue, Red Cross, St John Ambulance, First Responder, or Health emergency and security services.

What: This is an open, discursive and interactive event, with a range of spotlight sessions and information hotspots that will raise awareness about dementia, how to support people with dementia and explore the education needs of emergency service staff.

It will include

  • Inputs on emergency services and dementia
  • Simulated skills development sessions
  • Tour of Training facility and Fire simulator

Please be ready to have a couple of minutes to talk about how your service is future proofing its self and becoming capable and confident in working with people with dementia in emergency situations.
