Event description

Description

Owing to a combination of restriction on numbers and demand, 11 March is sold out, so EWH have kindly added this date.

Londoner Emery Walker (1851 - 1933) was a typographer and printer, and very much a member of William Morris's circle. He founded the Doves Press in Hammersmith which was a model for many successful private printing presses during the 20C. Walker received a knghthood in 1930. His daughter lived in his Hammersmith home for many years after his death, keeping it in an excellent state of preservation and leaving it very much as it was during Walker's lifetime.

Experience 7 Hammersmith Terrace by candlelight on a guided tour. Journey back in time as you explore these expertly preserved Arts and Crafts interiors and hear the stories of the House’s former residents.

Our tour is preceded by a wine reception.

Note: for health, safety and preservation reasons, 'candlelight' is, strictly speaking, electric candlelight per the song Lola.
Note: Three flights of stairs in this property with no lift, sorry.

Only 10 places. London Historians Members Only. Join London Historians.
