Description

The John Lyon 2019 Spring Term production is Carl Miller's Emil and the Detectives.

Starring John Lyon pupils from Years 7, 8 and 9, and directed by Teacher of Drama Mr Leon Felgate, this play adapted from the book Emil und die Detektive by Erich Kastner comes to the Boyd Campbell Hall.

On the train to Berlin, Emil meets a mysterious man who introduces himself as Mr Snow. This man gives Emil a slice of apple and Emil mysteriously falls asleep. When he wakes up, the money and Mr Snow are gone...

Emil and the Detectives was written in 1929 by Erich Kastner and was a major success. Set in Berlin, it was his only novel to escape Nazi censorship, and remains his best-known work.
