Singer, songwriter, poet, composer, multi-instrumentalist and mental health advocate, Emily Maguire’s five albums and two books have established her as truly a talent to be reckoned with. With a remarkable, inspiring story to tell, she has been featured many times on Radio 2 and Radio 4, her heartfelt, thought-provoking lyrics, supremely expressive vocals and spellbinding live performances winning her fans across the globe.
From living in a shack in the Australian bush where she financed her first two albums by making goats cheese, to playing the Royal Albert Hall with American legend Don McLean, Emily’s life has been a rollercoaster. Her first book ‘Start Over Again’ caused a sensation when it was launched on Radio 2 on World Mental Health Day in 2010, a brutally honest and poignant portrayal of her struggles with bipolar disorder.
Her third album 'Believer', hailed as a 'masterpiece' by Maverick Magazine with two singles playlisted on Radio 2, was followed by 'Bird Inside A Cage', a bold departure from her previous recordings while still retaining all the underlying trademarks of her emotive, lyric-rich songs. In 2017, after a long period of depression, Emily released her highly acclaimed, hauntingly beautiful fifth album 'A Bit Of Blue' and published 'Notes From The North Pole', a collection of poetry, prose and song lyrics.
Described as ‘exhilarating and transformational’ (RnR Magazine), Emily’s songs have the power to uplift, comfort and inspire in equal measure. In November 2018, to celebrate the launch of ‘Meditation Mind’, a new book of poetry inspired by her Buddhist practice, Emily is performing a series of intimate gigs in bookshops and Buddhist centres across the UK, reading her poems and singing her songs on acoustic guitar accompanied by her husband Christian Dunham on double-bass.
