Join us for an evening of poetry as we celebrate National Poetry Day and Emma Purshouse's new collection of poetry, Unsung.
Emma will be performing poems fron Unsung and signing copies of her books.
Her new book celebrates the wonderful and sometimes surreal everyday lives of ordinary people in the Black Country and will delight her many fans and readers. With her usual sharp - and sometimes comic - eye, Emma catalogues the small triumphs and disasters of being human. This collection is a love poem for the Black Country, and for 'unsung' heroines, and heroes, everywhere.
Emma Purshouse is a writer, performance poet and novelist. She was the first Poet Laureate for the City of Wolverhampton (2020 – 2022).
Unsung is Emma's third book with Offa's Press, following previous collections Close (2018) and It's Honorary, Bab (2022). She is also the author of the acclaimed novel Dogged, set in Wolverhampton and published by Ignite Press in 2022.Emma performs her work nationally, and poetry slam champion. She has a degree in English, and an MA in creative writing, enjoys writing flash fiction and has won, been placed, shortlisted, longlisted and commended in various writing competitions. In 2022 Emma came 3rd in the National Poetry Competition.
