EMP Webinar: Post-Natal Support for Working Mothers
Overview
Pregnancy and childbirth bring profound physical and emotional changes that can impact new parents long after returning to work. In the UK, 10–15% of new mothers experience postnatal depression, and around 1 in 3 women develop urinary incontinence after birth. Cognitive changes are also common, with up to 80% of mothers reporting memory issues or “brain fog” during the postpartum period. These challenges can affect confidence and performance in the workplace with more than 80% of working mothers struggle when returning to work after maternity leave, citing lack of support and flexibility
This session will explore the realities of post-natal recovery, covering topics such as:
- The physical changes that a women will go through when pregnant and following birth
- The mental and physical impacts which could impact work, such as bladder weakness, post-natal depression and brain fog.
- A look at some of the post-natal solutions on offer.
We are delighted to also be joined by EMP member, Toyota Financial Services, who will be sharing details of their innovative ‘mum hub’ scheme and what their approach has been to supporting working mums through maternity leave and returning to work.
