------------------------
For our November event, we'll be hearing from Erin Burke, Communications and Events Officer, and Laura Paton, Digital Content Officer, from the Scottish Civic Trust (@scotcivictrust).
The Trust's mission is to celebrate Scotland's built environment, take action for its improvement and empower its communities. One of their most popular events is Scotland's Doors Open Days (@doorsopendays), which celebrates our shared built and cultural heritage by enabling access to places, spaces, and activities not usually open to the public.
Laura is currently completing her MSc in Museum Education with the University of Glasgow and her research is focussed on museums’ social media responses to COVID-19. Using her research, Erin and Laura will chat to the group about using social media to approach audiences with empathy during times of crisis, as well as encouraging audience participation to develop a sense of community. They'll also explain how they've translated these themes of empathy and participation into their socials via #WhatsOotMaWindae & #DigiDoorsOpen / #IfTheseWallsCouldTalkDOD.
After the short presentation, there'll be time for a Q&A and general discussion.
