Employability Conference for Second Year Undergraduates

Monday 26 September 2016, 11am – 4pm

King’s House Conference Centre, Manchester



The day will commence with an introduction by Professor Toby Seddon, Head of the

School of Law, followed by an address from our Guest Speaker, Shami Chakrabarti CBE,

Barrister and former Director of Liberty.

The School of Law is passionate in its ambition to enhance our students’ academic studies by

providing a variety of lectures and workshops specifically tailored for our second year students.

We have many years’ experience of working with the Careers Service and employers to deliver

focussed sessions and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday 26 September.

There will be a selection of workshops to include:

- What do Solicitors and Barristers Actually Do?

- Routes to Qualifying as a Solicitor & Barrister

- Making the most of your degree at the School of Law

- Working in the public, social and criminal justice sector

The day will close with a Panel Session, during which our guest employers will speak about their

own experiences, and finally a Question and Answer session with the panel members.


Lunch will be included, with refreshments throughout the day. If you have any questions, please
