Employability talk and data skills challenge
Date: 16th June 2025
Time: 12:00-15:00
Location: Room 517, Boyd Orr Building
Who: Students who are enrolled in a BPS-accredited psychology degree or just completed one. You should have completed at least two years of undergraduate research methods training or one semester in a postgraduate BPS-accredited psychology degree.
Join us for an exciting event where you can put your data skills to the test! You will have the opportunity to complete our study on developing data skills in psychology students and earn £25. There will be computers available but it will make your life easier if you bring your own laptop. This is not supposed to be a formal test but an opportunity to work with realistic psychology data and reflect on the process you followed.
There will then be an employability talk and Q&A by lecturers from the School of Psychology and Neuroscience, including Dr Dale Barr, Dr James Bartlett, and Dr Ashley Robertson. They will discuss their journeys for developing their own data skills and how it forms a key employability skill from a psychology degree.
The event will take place in the Boyd Orr 517 lab room, so there will be a small range of drinks and snacks available alongside use of the psychology common room.
The event was organised by Heejung Choi, Sara Eftekhari, and Rebecca Smith.
