Employers Carbon Literacy Breakfast at MediaCityUK
Extreme weather, gloomy climate data and historic global agreements - the challenge and opportunity presented by climate change has never been greater. In Greater Manchester, a world-first project is underway, including the iconic employers represented here, to enable their people to become Carbon Literate. This unique scheme delivers a day's-worth of relevant, action-based training to staff that results in them undertaking action to lower your carbon footprint - and in most cases, overheads too.
This event is a chance for employers to find out why the big MediaCityUK companies took up Carbon Literacy, how they did it and what it's done for them.
Speakers will include senior executives from the BBC, ITV, Peel Media and Dock 10 as well as their colleagues who implemented this unique initiative.
STOP PRESS: Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett will open the event. Paul also chairs the Greater Manchester Low Carbon Hub.
The event is free and appropriate for all employers - whether holding roles in leadership, HR, OD or sustainability.
The Project is owned by the Manchester-based Carbon Literacy Trust, and has been delivered to a wide range of sectors including those represented at this event. Its observed outcomes include lower energy costs, increased team-working, higher motivation and the delivery of core skills. It is most often delivered peer to peer by colleagues and the resulting learning is supported through the Carbon Literate Organisation Scheme.
The event has been created by the Carbon Literacy Project- on behalf of the Greater Manchester Low Carbon Hub - which is part of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
