Carers UK’s 2025 report, Caring about Equality, showed a record number of people, 11.9m, are providing unpaid care to a loved one. However, our research also shows it takes on average two years for people to recognise themselves as a carer.
This means many carers may be missing out on workplace support vital to their health and wellbeing, and their ability to juggle work and caring. It is therefore crucial that working carers are aware of, and able to access the support they may need to address some of these challenges.
We invite you to join us for a webinar on Tuesday 7, October from 10 am – 11 am, to explore how employers can identify and recognise carers in the workplace, and why a clear and consistent approach to identification is key to embedding carer support. We will look at how employers have developed their strategies to ensure carers are visible, valued and supported. Drawing on insights from our Data and Evaluation webinar, we will also focus on post-identification and how carer passports can help drive meaningful engagement.
You will hear practical examples from fellow member organisations to further demonstrate how they take positive and pro-active steps to raise awareness of unpaid carers within the workplace. If you have any specific questions you would like covered in the Q&A section, please send them in advance to efc.events@carersuk.org or speak to your account manager.
We do hope that you will be able to join us on October 7, but if you are not able to make the event and would like to submit a question to the panel, you can submit them to efc.events@carersuk.org.
