Event description
Speaker: Barbara Hockey, Head of Vulnerable Workers Team, HSE, Birmingham

About this Event

When young people start their working-life they will be unfamiliar the workplace environment, its associated risks and the behaviour that is expected of them. Barbara Hockey, Head of Vulnerable Workers Team at HSE, Birmingham will therefore cover topics such as ways of assessing whether young workers need additional support to allow them to carry out their work so that they do not put themselves and others at risk and whether, or not, they need one-to-one on-the-job training and/or closer supervision.

Members are encouraged to take part in an interactive discussion with speakers during the meeting and to network with other members over tea or coffee and biscuits after the meeting.

There will be a committee meeting after the main meeting.

This meeting provides an opportunity to gain experience for your CPD and IPD records and to network with IOSH members from other work environments.

Any IOSH member is always welcome to attend our meetings.

There is ample parking on site and the hotel is a five minute walk from Grange-over-Sands railway station.

The railway line connects with the west coast main line at Carnforth and Lancaster.

The 6X bus route between Kendal, Ulverston and Barrow-in-Furness stops at Grange-over-Sands station.
