This full day conference will examine some of the most pressing topics in Employment law to date. The seminar aims to provide delegates with a comprehensive understanding of these areas and is delivered by a range of experts in the field.

SPEAKERS

Stuart McWilliams, Partner, Morton Fraser LLP. Stuart is recognised by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Immigration law and advises clients on all aspects of UK immigration law. He provides advice and assistance to businesses in relation to the Tier 2 Sponsorship process and is recognised for his expertise in working with software and technology companies who are experiencing skill shortages. He also has extensive experience working with Tier 1 entrepreneurs who are looking to establish their businesses in the UK. Further, Stuart deals with private client immigration matters and can advise on any application for Leave to Remain. He speaks frequently on immigration issues and has particular expertise in relation to the family migration rules. Stuart is ranked as a Star Associate by Chambers & Partners 2019. He is the Convener of the Law Society of Scotland's Immigration and Asylum Law Sub-Committee.

Alison Weatherhead, Counsel specialising in employment law, Dentons UK and Middle East LLP, with a particular focus and expertise in TUPE. She has been advising on the employment aspects of corporate transactions at the firm for over 15 years, guiding clients through the intricacies of TUPE issues and other transactional support issues. This includes advising on, drafting and negotiating deal related documentation, working on a cross department basis. She also advises clients on compliance and practical solutions to TUPE and other employment specific issues which arise. She has experience of working in - house for a client on a substantial TUPE transfer, acting at the coal face in an HR role.

Elouisa Chrichton, Associate at Shepherd and Wedderburn. Elouisa is an associate in the Employment team and advises clients on contentious and non-contentious employment law throughout the UK, across a wide range of sectors. She has extensive tribunal experience defending tribunal claims in Scotland, England and Wales for global clients (including Asda, Balfour Beatty, RBS, Lloyds and Direct Line). She advises on disciplinary and grievance issues, unfair dismissal, equal pay and discrimination. Elouisa is experienced in employment mediation and early conciliation. She supports HR teams in managing change projects such as TUPE transfers, redundancy exercises and changes to terms and conditions. She provides advice on the employment law aspects of commercial transactions and outsourcings including carrying out diligence and drafting TUPE provisions, warranties and indemnities. Elouisa has particular expertise in delivering tailored training sessions to clients. She also has expert knowledge of the shared parental leave regime.

Fiona Gorry, Associate, Dentons. Fiona is experienced in advising on all aspects of employment law and has a particular interest in contentious matters. With previous experience in civil litigation, Fiona has appeared before the Sheriff Court on a number of occasions and also represents clients in Employment Tribunal cases. Fiona is interested in employee relations and is also experienced in advising on business reorganisations, workplace policies, contracts and TUPE transfer queries. Fiona is passionate about working closely with clients to deliver innovative, practical and commercial solutions.

Sarah Gilzean, Senior Associate at Morton Fraser. Sarah has specialised in employment law for 15 years and has acted for a wide range of employer and employee clients in the public and private sector. She gives practical, easy to understand advice and is focused on achieving her clients objectives at all times. She regularly advises in relation to exits, TUPE redundancy, disciplinary and grievance, contractual disputes, whistleblowing, discrimination, equal pay and industrial relations. She appears on behalf of clients in the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal and is regularly asked to speak at conferences and training seminars on employment law and discrimination topics. Sarah is considered an Associate to Watch in Employment Law by Chambers and Partners.
