Description

This well established and popular one-day training course provides practical guidance in dealing with the most common employment law issues faced by managers, supervisors and HR professionals on a day-to-day basis. This makes it ideal for any business wishing to avoid costly, time consuming tribunal claims, develop their understanding of their rights as an employer in relation to employment law matters, and obtain guidance on managing tricky employee issues and difficult conversations.

Content:

Managing Under-Performing Employees: Tackling under performance within the workplace and increasing performance levels within your business. How to effectively performance manage your employees and what to do if the employee doesn’t improve.

Disciplinary Action: Taking disciplinary action - avoiding procedural pitfalls, ensuring consistency and handling those difficult employees. Dismissal - dismissing an employee, the alternatives to dismissal, and avoiding that costly tribunal claim.

Addressing Grievances: How to recognise them and how to avoid them. What to do if your employee raises a grievance and how to address the allegations raised. What if the grievance is against you?

Managing Sickness Absence: How to handle and prevent both short term frequent absences and long term sickness absence. Getting an employee back to work. Identifying when ill health may amount to a legal disability and the steps you should take in such circumstances. What are ‘reasonable adjustments’ and when should you make them? When/how can you dismiss an employee for ill health reasons?

Discrimination and Harassment at Work: Who is protected from discrimination at work? Identifying discrimination (and the different types) within your workplace. Preventing and tackling discrimination and harassment in your workplace. The steps you should take if an employee complains they are a victim of discrimination or harassment. What is bullying and how does bullying differ from the above?

Resignations: When could a resignation lead to a tribunal claim? Resignation acknowledgment letters – what should they include? Ex-employees – references and restrictive covenants.

Ask the Consultant: Opportunity to ask our fully qualified employment law consultant any questions. All of our highly qualified employment law consultants have a wealth of experience in dealing with all employee related matters.
