Employment Law: Homeworking & Hybrid Working
The number of workers in the UK who worked entirely from home was relatively low until the COVID-19 pandemic. The various lockdowns resulted in many employees being forced to work from home, and businesses had to adapt. Workers are again advised to work from home if possible, in light of the Omicron variant.
The proportion of hybrid workers and workers who work entirely from home is likely to continue to increase, as employers reconsider their operating models in light of the pandemic; indeed, the government's flexible working taskforce has recommended that flexible working should be the default position for all workers post-pandemic.
Employers entering into homeworking arrangements or introducing hybrid working arrangements will need to address a range of legal and practical issues, including introducing appropriate policies, protecting confidential information and personal data, considering health and safety implications and risk assessments, insurance, management and supervision of homeworkers and hybrid workers and identifying the potential tax consequences.
In this webinar, we will consider those issues and offer practical advice and guidance.
The outcome of this session is to:
- Understand government guidance around flexible working
- Be able to consider the legal and practical implications of implementing homeworking and hybrid working
- Identify the policies and procedures that need to be addressed
