We are thankful to our Scarborough Regional Partners Castle Employment for organising and hosting this event.


Castle Employment would like to welcome you to join them for the Castle HR & Employment Law Seminar. Torque Law will provide their usual practical and hands on advice. This time they will look at ways in which employers can handle employee performance.


1.00pm – 2.00pm: Arrival, Registration, Buffet Lunch and Networking.

2.00pm – 2.15pm: Welcome and Introduction to The Crown Spa Hotel by Vicky Riley, HR Manager CIPD Representative.

2.15pm – 3.15pm: Handling employee performance by Tiggy Clifford & Emma Whiting from Torque Law.

This practical session will give managers the confidence to grasp the nettle on tricky employee performance issues and provide top tips on getting the best outcomes. It will cover:

  • Formal and informal processes.
  • Setting and managing targets.
  • Thorny issues including disability and difficult/un-cooperative employees.

3.15pm – 3.45pm: Aligning your brand, your culture and your team to improve business performance by Rachel Goddard, Intandem Communications.

In addition, Rachel Goddard, Managing Director of Intandem Communications will share her experiences of helping businesses to grow from the inside. 

In this 30-minute session, she will explain how get to the heart of your business and to align your brand with your culture to improve employee performance and customer satisfaction.

With 30 years business experience, Rachel has worked with hundreds of small and medium sized businesses to successfully promote their products and services. She has developed ‘inside out marketing’ and believes the best, most effective marketing always starts with an engaged, motivated workforce.

The talk will cover:

  • Defining your brand values, brand personality and brand essence.
  • How your internal communications are vital for business success as your business grows.
  • Your brand and your marketing strategy–tips for success.

3.45pm 4.00pm: Kerry Hope, MD, Castle Employment, to close the HR & Employment Law Seminar.


This is a free event for both CIPD and non-CIPD Members. Business Owners/Managers are very welcome to book. Early booking recommended as our Employment Law Updates are often fully subscribed.


This event is free to attend however, we do reserve the right to charge a £10 no-show fee for those who are unable to attend who do not contact us with apologies (except in exceptional circumstances). 

All, of our branch events are organised by volunteers who give up their time freely to provide CPD opportunities for others in North Yorkshire, events are funded through branch funds, and our speakers (who at most receive expenses only) give up their time freely to prepare and present their sessions. With this in mind, if you do book on an event and find you’re no longer able to attend – please email and give your apologies to those involved with the event – we really do appreciate this, especially in advance where possible as this might allow us to avoid catering wastage, but if it’s an unavoidable last minute cancellation we’d still like to hear from you.
