Ramez Moussa, Labour & Employment Partner: Ramez advises a diverse range of clients on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law with particular expertise in corporate restructurings, outsourcing/TUPE (commonly involving an international dimension) and business change projects. He has significant experience advising on complex and high value, multi-respondent discrimination and whistleblowing claims. Ramez is recognised as a leading individual by Chambers UK 2016 and is recommended in The Legal 500 UK 2016 for Employment.

Annabel Mace, Partner, Labour & Employment Partner: Annabel heads up the UK's business immigration team, has experience in all aspects of employment and business immigration law both at individual and corporate multinational. She has a particular expertise in relation to the problematic overlap between immigration and employment law including the issues of illegal working, race discrimination and related dismissal. Annabel also has extensive expertise in the employment and immigration aspects of transferring staff outside the UK.

Beverley Smith, Labour & Employment Senior Associate: Beverley is an experienced and commercially aware employment and business immigration lawyer who worked in industry prior to commencing a career in private practice. She also provides strategic and practical business immigration advice including right to work and illegal working issues, assistance with obtaining sponsor licences, Tier 2 & 5 advice and Home Office inspections. She also has judicial mediation experience, regularly conducts bespoke in-house training for clients and speaks at internal and external events on topical issues.

Helena Morrissey, Labour & Employment Senior Associate: Helena specialises in complex discrimination and dismissal claims. Her non-contentious work includes the project management of large-scale redundancy exercises and restructures, as we all TUPE transfers and changes to terms and conditions (in particular, changes to pension benefits). The Legal 500 UK 2015 quotes that Helena "is rated as excellent" by clients.

Places can be cancelled up to 1 week before the event, after that any non-member delegate fee of £15 is non-refundable

CIPD Birmingham Branch

The CIPD Birmingham branch provides opportunities for its 2500 members to network with local HR and L& D professionals, to continue with their professional development and remain up to date with HR issues. There is an active programme of events through the year and you can find details of the upcoming events listed below. For further details just click on the event you are interested in and you can then book your place online.


Unless otherwise stated branch events are free for CIPD members to attend, and there is a non-member fee of £15 which must be paid online when booking.


Birmingham branch is part of the CIPD Midlands Area Partnership (MAP) which holds an Annual Midlands Event in October.  The 2017 event Devolping Capability for Shifting Times will take place on Saturday 7 October at Chesford Grange Hotel in Warwickshire.
