Employment Matters

We are pleased to invite you to our employment matters seminar on the 13th November at the Old Courthouse, Grays.

The seminar will cover two topics of current importance in employment.

Employment Status

The difference between employee, worker or self-employed is often unclear. With changes in the way we work and engage people to work, it is getting tricky to get it right (and potentially costly). With a rise in Employment Tribunal cases on employment status and the continuing focus of HMRC to tackle false self-employment, Aimee Cassidy, Director at Improve HR, will be discussing recent developments on employment status and why it matters to you to get it right.

The Apprenticeship Levy

Apprenticeships are changing fast. From May this year, apprenticeship funding changed for everyone. Over 19,000 employers will contribute to a new apprenticeship levy – are you ready to take advantage of the changes?

At this workshop you’ll get the chance to learn about:

  • How the apprenticeship levy funding will work in practice for SME’s
  • How the levy can support your organisation to gain access to fully funded/co-funded Learning and Development for your employees
  • The differences between new standards and frameworks

The workshop will be led by Sam Rope, Group HR Director for Seetec. In her current role she has developed an apprenticeship strategy which will enable Seetec to invest in new skills so that its employees are able to deliver the long term business plan. As a result of this work, she is heading up a group of employers who have formed a sector based strategy team who are developing a range of new sector specific trailblazer apprenticeships to promote skills and qualifications as well as maintain professional standards. Prior to her current role, Sam spent 22 years’ in the corporate world where she held several senior HR roles both in the public and private sector as well as providing outsourced Recruitment and HR services to companies such as BT, Aviva and HBOS, both in the UK and Australia.

Enjoy a free event and a chance to meet new people.

Please let us know if you can make it, would be great to see you there.
