Event description
Enabling Space Technologies for services to the Public Sector

About this Event

    Satellite derived technologies are coming of age, with more data, more connectivity and more solutions being made available. The public sector's use of space as an enabling technology can stimulate innovation and growth whilst at same time making government more efficient and ‘smarter’.

    Join the Science & Technology Facilities Council in collaboration with the Astropreneurs Space Startup Accelerator and the UK Space Agency for an introduction to the 'Space for Smarter Government Programme'.

    This talk will introduce how the Space for Smarter Government Programme (SSGP) helps encourage public sector uptake of space solutions, how it acts as an enabling interface between the space sector and government, and a live initiative that companies can use to engage with public sector sponsors to share and test ideas.

    This session will provide an overview of case studies of where space derived products and services have been used by the UK public sector, and what benefits and insights have been demonstrated through them.

    Topics will include;

    1. Requirements and needs from Government departments
    2. Case studies of technologies used in government
    3. How to progress and engage with Government departments
    4. Challenges of working with Governments
    5. Space data and where to find it
