FOR TEACHERS IN LEWISHAM MAINTAINED SCHOOLS ONLY. Role and school details must be supplied.

The session will include:

  • What do you expect of pupils in a dance class?
  • What rules or routines help the class move smoothly?
  • What resources do you choose surrounding your stimuli? Do they reflect a variety of cultures and backgrounds?
  • What music do you use? Where is it from?
  • Can you use an international dance style in your class, from a different part of the world? Eg, Bollywood, Kathak, Flamenco, Folk Dances
  • The importance of research
  • Using stories
  • Encouraging performance skills
  • Handling mistakes

For this workshop you should come dressed to move. We will be working in bare feet but if you own ballet shoes, jazz shoes, or non-slip socks you may be able to work in these instead. You should also bring some water with you.

Social distancing and cleansing guidelines will be followed for this course. Numbers are limited to 15. Details will be provided closer to the time re the viability of the course according to January '21 Covid guidelines. By necessity, the course may need to be scheduled for a future date.
