Description

A series of 2 hour workshops targeted at audiences of either HCA/Care Workers or Registered Nurses/ Appropriate Allied Health Professionals.

These will be delivered at Saint Michael's Hospice in Harrogate or locally if there is sufficient demand and suitable venues can be identified.

  • Symptom Management and End of Life Care

This event will focus on the management of the symptoms often experienced by people with advanced long term conditions or nearing end of life. To include Breathlessness, Nausea & Vomiting, Agitation and Terminal Secretions.

  • Syringe drivers

Syringe driver pumps are regularly used in symptom management and as people near the end of their lives. This session will look at how and when a syringe driver might be beneficial for patients and shares practical skills and advice on how to effectively use and manage this valuable piece of equipment.

Please be aware this workshop delivers theoretical training only. Delegates will need to be observed/assessed in their workplace by someone able to assess competency in that environment.

  • Pain Management

  • What do we mean by 'End of Life'?

This session will include identifying when someone is dying and their care needs during the last days of life.
