End of Life Care - You Matter and Milestones Train the Trainer - January 2017

NB: If you are unable to attend this event, Train the Trainer sessions will also be taking place on 29 November 2016 and 5 December 2016.

The End of Life Care team at UCLPartners has developed educational materials that can be used to train general clinical and non-clinical staff of all disciplines in the care of patients, and those important to them, during the last days of life.

In light of recent national publications focusing on End of Life Care, Health Education England North Central and East London (HEE NCEL) have funded two sets of resources – Milestones (for care in acute hospital settings) and You Matter (for care in community settings). Each consists of a 17-minute film, and 5/6 separate sets of teaching material (including slides, facilitator notes and case examples) which can be used either alone or in conjunction with the film. Evaluation tools to monitor the impact of the resources are additionally provided.

Train the Trainer sessions are aimed at staff who will act as End of Life Care champions in their organisations. The session will demonstrate the films and teaching materials, and train and support staff in attendance to deliver End of Life Care teaching sessions to their colleagues.

Please note that this session covers both Milestones and You Matter, and as such is appropriate for staff working in acute hospitals and staff working in the community.
