Actions and Detail Panel
End Of Life with Brigette Harrison Shelley Lamprell-Josephs
Sun 25 June 2017, 10:00 – 17:00 BST
This workshop has been created as an introduction to holistic end of life support and the role of the End of Life Doula. It is designed to give students the opportunity to begin a journey of understanding and knowledge, related to both their own relationship with dying and death, and with supporting others holistically, facing the end of life.
It covers a range of body, mind and spirit aspects of knowledge and support, self-awareness and reflection, communication, experiences of dying and death, meditations and coping ‘tools’ and strategies.
Aims and Objectives
To gain an awareness of self, and societal attitudes/prejudices in relation to death and dying.
To have a basic knowledge of the role of the End of Life Doula and communication skills for difficult situations.
To gain insight into spiritual death bed experiences and studies.
To achieve understanding of personal loss and bereavement.
To identify helpful tools to cope with challenging situations.
The workshop will be facilitated using a variety of approaches and learning styles. There will be a powerpoint presentation that summarises all areas covered, which will be available for students to take away. Sessions will include small group work, therapeutic art and crafts, use of communication cards and tools to encourage and enable conversations, reflective exercises, meditation and general talks and discussions. These will enable students of all abilities to access knowledge and skills in end of life issues and support. The course leaders will provide a safe, confidential and cathartic environment to explore issues and support students for the duration of the workshop. It is a stand-alone workshop, but can also serve as a prequel to the official End of Life Doula training course.
Price £75 plus Eventbrite fee (£75 if paid direct to us - see website)
