Aims and Objectives of Event

To promote and raise awareness of the forthcoming change in legislation in Wales in respect of the Children (Abolition of the Defence of Reasonable Punishment) (Wales) Act 2020 and what this means in practice for Children, Parents, Carers, Professionals/Practitioners and our communities in Wales. The event/seminar is a collaboration between the 6 Regional Safeguarding Boards for Children in Wales as part of National Safeguarding Week events and will provide participants with information via a video presentation followed by a panel Q and A session made up of those with expert knowledge in this area and who have been actively involved in the development of the legislation.

Target Audience

All professionals/ practitioners across agencies who have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the well-being of children and young people in Wales. This includes, teachers, police officers, social workers, health professionals, probation officers and those providing services and working in third sector and voluntary organisations in our communities.
