In this 5 stage course you will learn everything you need to know to swim in open water confidently and successfully.

Starting with a front crawl swim technique video analysis in the endless pool in Chertsey, where you'll learn visually what stroke corrections and technique drills you need to do to swim more efficiently and with more speed.

You'll then progress with 2 pool based open water skills sessions in Guildford lido covering :

  • Sighting and navigation techniques
  • Wetsuit fitting and transition practice for t1
  • Practicing buoy turnarounds
  • See how straight you can swim with your eyes shut
  • Practice your swim drills and stroke correction from the endless pool
  • Deep water starts
  • Pacing awareness and control
  • A fitness test to determine your best swim pacing
  • Correct starting method for the rest open water mass start races

Then for the next 2 swim lessons we'll move to Thorpe open water swimming lake near Chertsey for:

  • Did you know that you can add 20% or more to your overall open water swim race distance by not sighting effectively or often enough?
  • Do you feel like you lose your way a bit when turning around buoys in open water, or when you're racing, are you filled with dread at the thought of being punched and kicked just as you’re about to breathe?
  • Did you know you could save as much as 18-25% energy swimming in open water by drafting efficiently and effectively?

What you'll cover in your open water sessions

  • Advanced open water skills and drills
  • Race pace training
  • Drafting techniques off feet and hips
  • Acclimatisation to open water swimming
  • Improving and putting into practice your open water drills from the pool
  • Swimming in close proximity
  • Mass start techniques in open water
Finishing this course will give you the skills and the confidence to have a strong open water swim, take away any fears you may have and help you to achieve your training and racing potential.

Testimonials for Speedy Swim sessions:

"Nick ran the swim sessions for David Lloyd Triathlon club for 6 months and in that time he consistently applied his training methods and approach to swim training that enabled me and all of the other members of the tri club to reduce our 400m time trial times. More than that his sense of humour made these sessions enjoyable and the hour in the water fly by!

I can highly recommend him as a trainer/coach, you won’t be disappointed. “John Leysen

"Nick's training methods and approach to swim training enabled me and all of the other members of our triathlon club to reduce our 400m time trial times." Richard Wild
