Energise Your Business is once again brought to you by the Business Network and brings together an exciting mix of speakers and the opportunity to network with other local businesses. The event takes place on Thursday 22 October 2015 and will run from 08:45 am until 13.15pm, followed by lunch. If you wish to stay on and network after lunch, the room is available until 3pm. The venue is Banbridge Golf Club.
Compere: Ian Beattie, Northern Ireland Actor, Game of Thrones
Proceedings for the day will be compered by the actor Ian Beattie, widely recognised for his role in Game of Thrones, which recently won a record-breaking 12 Emmy Awards. Ian will also speak about acting, Game of Thrones, and the Northern Ireland film industry.
Dr John Cathcart (Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography at Ulster University & Ulster Elks Manager)
Dr John Cathcart is working with companies through Ulster University to bring a professional structure and development to field hockey, the largest female sport in Northern Ireland. John will introduce us to strategies used in professional sport to get the best from players, and explain how best practice from high performance sport can be applied within the workplace. He will be accompanied by Megan Frazer, Ireland Women's Hockey Captain and Ulster Elks player.
Jan Cunningham (Partner at Millar, McCall Wylie, and former Ulster Rugby player)
Jan Cunningham is a former professional rugby player who played for Ulster Rugby for 6 years from 1997 to 2003. Jan now heads up Millar McCall Wylie’s employment department and will outline the support available to assist employers in complying with their legal obligations and to protect them from litigation.
Darren Bowman (Director of Business Recovery & Insolvency, Baker Tilly Mooney Moore)
Darren is the Business Recovery & Insolvency Director of Baker Tilly Mooney Moore. He is also a Committee member of the Business Network Banbridge, and played a lead role in the event management team responsible for organising this event. Darren provides initial advice and support to individuals and company directors facing insolvency as well as providing advice and client support to a significant number of accountants, solicitors and other professional advisors. His experience ideally places him to provide insight into managing cash flow to keep your business energised.
Stephen Brown (Coasteering NI & Firewalking International)
Stephen Brown is a Coasteering Guide and Firewalking Instructor. He is dedicated to helping people to overcome fears, challenge their comfort zones and grow as individuals. He has years of experience and skills in delivering personal and social development courses for individuals and teams. Stephen will provide a dynamic and fun fuelled series of activities that will highlight the importance of having fun in the workplace. Prepare to have a big smile on your face!
Denise Cowan (Digital Marketing Consultant, Digital Den)
Digital Marketing Consultant, Denise Cowan plays an active role in The Business Network. She is a Committee Member, leads the network's marketing and promotional activities and is also our Energise Your Busines Event Manager. In her business, Digital Den, Denise specialises in helping individuals and businesses to market themselves effectively online. Denise will provide some marketing tips for SMEs to promote themselves effectively online and offline on a budget.
Dr Ann O’Hanlon (The I Can Centre)
Dr Ann O'Hanlon is the Director of the Northern Ireland Centre for Health and Well-being (NICHAW.org). As a psycholgist and CBT therapist Ann also leads a busy applied practice for counselling and mental health interventions (TheICanCentre.com) and interventions promoting greater kindness and compassion (TheKindnessCentre.co.uk). Ann's presentation will be on 'Culture change towards success through kindness and compassion'.
Lucy Lewis (Charity Partner, The Prince's Trust)
The Prince's Trust is our charity partner for the event and a donation from ticket sales will be made to support their work here in Northern Ireland. Lucy will take a few moments to tell us about some of the initiatives they are involved in and how the money raised will be spent.

The Business Network is a network which has been jointly founded by local business owners.
It exists to support local business owners in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon council and surrounding areas by providing a networking, discussion and education forum, generating referrals and business leads, providing mutual support, sharing new ideas and business opportunities.
Every local business has the opportunity to participate in the Network. The network's strength is its informality and openness.
