Energy Capital: Launch Event
Wed 15 February 2017, 13:30 – 19:00 GMT
Building the markets and energy industry of the future in the West Midlands
On the 15th of February 2017, a bold and inspiring new vision for energy in the West Midlands will be announced. We would like you to be there.
“Energy Capital” will unite all of the major stakeholders in energy technologies and systems, and locate the West Midlands as the UK’s focal point for future energy innovation and investment.
A final agenda will be released mid-January for what promises to be a very exciting afternoon. Leaders from industry, politics and academia will discuss our collective ambition for energy in the region.
In the early evening, Prof. Sir David King will give a Distinguished Lecture on Mission Innovation, its mission to accelerate energy research by leveraging billions of investment and how Energy Capital might participate in that vision.
The event will take place at the University of Birmingham in the Aston Webb Main Lecture Theatre. Refreshments will be served from 1.30PM with a 2PM start, and the event will continue until 7PM.
The map on this Eventbrite page shows the University of Birmingham Campus, but not the detail of the building location. Please refer to the University of Birmingham Campus Map which can be accessed via this link. The Aston Webb Main Lecture Theatre is in the Aston Webb "C Block", which is coloured red on the Campus Map, and shown as Building R7. It can be accessed from the South Ring Road. From Chancellors Court where the "Old Joe" clock is located there are two ways of accessing the Main Lecture Theatre. The easiest way is to walk down the staircase between the Bramall Music Building and the adjacent C Block, denoted by the blue staircase symbol on the diagram. The lecture theatre is on the right hand side at the end of the block. There is also a route inside the buildings and reception staff in the Aston Webb main building would be pleased to direct you.
Travelling to Campus By Train
The University has it's own station "University" which is minutes away from Birmingham New Street. From the University station, the simplest route is to turn left out of the station and walk towards the clock tower "Old Joe" which provides a visible landmark to walk towards. One you are in Chancellor's Court, standing with the clock tower behind you, and facing the semi-circle of buildings, the stairs down to the Aston Webb Main Lecture theatre are to the right of the Bramall Music Building which will be on your left hand side
Travelling to Campus By Car
If you are travelling to the University of Birmingham campus by car, it is recommended that you park in the North East Car Park on Pritchatts Road. The road opposite the car park leads on to the North Ring Road, shown on the map. If you follow this road around behind the main red brick University Buildings, there is a junction which links with the South Ring Road, from which the Aston Webb Main Lecture Theatre can be accessed.
