Historic Environment Scotland are offering a FREE introduction to thermal retrofit in traditionally constructed buildings, tailored specifically to you!

Planning applications associated with energy efficiency retrofit are on the rise, putting pressure on local authorities. As new technologies emerge, it’s important to stay current and up to date with best practice. This helps us make informed decisions about proposed changes to listed and other traditionally constructed buildings.

This short event will help upskill Local Authorities to better understand the matters relating to retrofit, to consider how to approach the refurbishment of a traditional or historic building, while balancing the various planning requirements that each project brings and addressing real issues raised by constituents.

Our team of experts will guide you through the various factors to look out for when assessing thermal upgrades and how these apply to historic buildings. We will also discuss tried and tested retrofit measures, and the related actions to take when considering such works. Other relevant factors will be introduced too, such as our Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy guidance.

This is an invite only event for people who work in Local Authorities.

We encourage Local Authorities to share this invitation with individuals from within their Councils. This includes (but is not limited to) colleagues in departments such as Development Management, Planning, Building Standards, Building Control, Estates, Architecture / Surveying, Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy responsible officers. We would very much welcome local government Councillors to attend.
