One of a series of 3 workshops organised by Cambridge Zero throughout March, focussed on a broad common theme of materials and the transition to net-zero. These in-person workshops are supported by the Natural Environment Research Council as part of their Cross-disciplinary Research for Discovery Science activities. These workshops are targeted at an internal Cambridge University academic audience. Early Career Postdoctoral Researchers are also very welcome to attend.

This event is co-organised with the Department of Materials Science, the Energy IRC and the Henry Royce Institute.

Aim: To showcase work and increase interdisciplinary collaboration and dialogue between experimental and modelling communities working on energy materials for Net Zero across departments in Cambridge. This participatory workshop will highlight applications across the field and lay the groundwork for collaborative research bids around pre-defined breakout topic areas.

Format: The workshop will consist of a series of short presentations from colleagues emphasising their work in this area, and in particular across the theory-experiment divide, followed by time for facilitated breakout discussions on several pre-defined topics. The breakout discussions will be structured around a template for a £10M Grand Challenge research proposal. Outcomes from the workshop discussions will be used to shape the development of new cross-disciplinary research funding proposals. There will be the opportunity to network afterwards in the W Café & Bar.
