Event description

Description

Join us on Friday, 1st December and open the first door of our count down to the holiday’s engagement calendar which will step us into our theme for the session - leadership and engagement. We are sure we can build the calendar as we go and find 24.

Come along and network with like-minded people, listen, question, share your stories and challenges around all things leadership and whilst doing so enjoy a mince pie.

The event: 8.30 to 11am, DCH, 72 Paris Street, Exeter EX1 2JZ (opposite the bus station). Plenty of car parking in the vicinity. Tea and coffee will be provided.

Leadership and Management, are they the same?

Dawn Sowerby, Director of Transformation - People at Aster Group UK

Consider how the Engage for Success enablers provide a steer on helping to define an engagement compass for both leaders and managers and how these can be brought to life and delivered in an organisation.

Engaging Leadership Styles

Cath Bailey, Local Engage for Success Ambassador Devon and Cornwall TAG

Are we seeing the return of command and control leadership? Where does it fit within engaging organisations and what are the alternatives?

MISSION: Leadership & Engagement

Lieutenant Commander Iain Jardine, a Naval Aviator, Instructor and Performance Coach will share the story of how he has used “bottom up” leadership to help his teams to achieve their potential.

Performance coaching has played a significant part in Iain’s career and he explains how he found coaching just in time, not only to save his own career, but improve the performance and engagement of his team members.

There will be a chance to try out military style planning and briefing models to analyse, plan and brief missions with structure and clarity to ensure maximum team engagement.

As you would expect, this will be debriefed using the same process followed by military aviators after every mission. This is a critical technique in extracting lessons learnt and providing accurate feedback to enable performance.
