A Workforce Development Networking lunch, plenary and workshops

John Swinney described Health and Social Care Integration and SDS as a “mega reform” at a recent leadership and workforce focussed event. Clearly there are great expectations of our workforce in the months and years ahead, as well as huge challenges, but are we being meaningfully engaged to address these challenges and are we engaging as well as we could with our workforce to bring about mega reform?

The Workforce Development Network has received Scottish Government funding for another year and we will use this event to get your views on our new work plan and invite you to contribute to workshops on our hot topics:

  • Fitness to Practise – your chance to find out more about the SSSC fitness to practise model and to share your views
  • Leadership – hear about the Step into Leadership evaluation and some examples of how providers can incorporate this resource into their organisations
  • Valuing the Frontline Workforce - key findings from the recent benchmarking survey of pay and conditions in the voluntary and private sectors and opportunities to influence workforce reward and recognition.
  • Engaged workforce - Feedback of the national engaged workforce survey results and discussion of how we can influence health and social care integration

CCPS Workforce Development Network

The Scottish Government has awarded CCPS Workforce Development Network a third year of grant funding for 2015-2016 to build on the work of the last two years to assist “social services providers in the voluntary sector to fully contribute to the national workforce development agenda and maximise their capacity to self-manage the development of their workforce.”

As with last year, the CCPS Workforce Development Network will focus on the workforce development implications arising from the key Scottish Government policy areas which affect voluntary sector care and support provision, including leadership, workforce registration and regulation, self-directed support, fitness to practise, and the integration of health and social care.

The grant will assist CCPS, through its’ Workforce Development Network:

  • To work in collaboration with SSSC and other key partners, through sharing knowledge and practice, in order to build workforce capacity and leadership in voluntary sector social services providers.
  • To improve the impact voluntary sector social service providers are able to make on the national workforce policy agenda, through acting as a voice of, and advocating for, their interests.
