The aim of this event is to demonstrate what emotional employee engagement looks like and how it directly impacts on business performance. This session will collectively explore different approaches to engagement and encourage the sharing experiences of best practice. By challenging pre-conceived wisdom and conventional approaches, Purple Monster will illustrate how the power of connecting with employees emotionally has longer lasting effects and will directly contribute to improved performance.
It will use a mixture interactive exercises and facilitated discussion to demonstrate the difference between ‘engagement’ and ‘emotional engagement’ providing you with practical information and tips that can be considered when developing engagement strategies and how you can consider the emotional element.
The session will be led by Alan Heap who is the founder and Director of Purple Monster. Alan has a background in theatre as a performer and has been running Purple Monster for over 20 years. Purple Monster has consistently punched above its weight for a small organisation, working with blue chip organisations such as Mondelēz International, Rolls Royce, National Grid, Centrica and BP. They have taken their work all over the world, helping these organisations and many others like them to engage with their employees on an emotional as well as a rational level.
Alan has recently taken part in TEDx Leamington Spa with a talk entitled ‘It’s Engagement you fool’ where Alan shares why medieval jesters may have had it right all along, and how we can bring the worlds of comedy and ‘serious’ business back together again. If you’re serious about business, or even in a serious business, you might wish to heed the words of this particular fool.
