Event Details:

In 2016 the Office for National Statistics reported that the UK productivity gap had widened to its worst level since records began. Worse still, in Wales, labour productivity was almost 20% below the UK average. What does this mean for your business or organisation?

Gallup’s Global Workplace found that only 17% of UK employees are engaged, or emotionally invested in and focused on creating value for their organisations. Gallup found a positive statistical correlation between employee engagement and productivity (and therefore profitability). They concluded that increasing employee engagement is one of the best ways to improve productivity.

But how? McKinsey research has consistently shown that good leadership is a critical part of organisational health. Engagement and creating engaged employees is something that managers and executives can influence (whether a micro-business or multi-national). So improving levels of engagement is a key area for strategic change in order to impact on productivity.

This event will provide answers to the key question: “How can you positively influence your employee engagement?”

Event Speakers:

Barbara Chidgey, Executive Chair of the Leading Wales Awards Consortium will introduce our theme of Engaging Leadership and set the context.

Kate Cooper, Head of Research, Policy & Standards at The Institute of Leadership & Management will share relevant insights derived from the Institute’s research.

Tom Wood, CEO of the RWA Group and a previous Leading Wales Awards’ winner will present a case study explaining the ways in which their leadership strategy has successfully improved employee engagement and driven up productivity in their organisation.

We will conclude with a facilitated table-top discussion to enable attendees to share practical ideas on how you can positively influence employee engagement in your workplace.

Very many thanks indeed to the Exchange Hotel, Cardiff Bay for hosting and supporting this event which will provide attendees with a great opportunity to see inside the renovated areas of the Coal Exchange.
