Engaging Leadership to improve productivity (Wrexham)
Thu 4 May 2017, 08:00 – 09:45 BST
In 2016 the Office for National Statistics reported that the UK productivity gap had widened to its worst level since records began. Worse still, in Wales, labour productivity was almost 20% below the UK average. What does this mean for your business or organisation?
Gallup’s Global Workplace found that only 17% of UK employees are engaged, or emotionally invested in and focused on creating value for their organizations. Gallup found a positive statistical correlation between employee engagement and productivity (and therefore profitability). They concluded that increasing employee engagement is one of the best ways to improve productivity.
McKinsey research has consistently shown that good leadership is a critical part of organizational health. Engagement and creating engaged employees is something that managers and executives can influence (whether a micro-business or multi-national).
This event will provide answers to the question: “How can you in your leadership role influence your employee engagement positively?”
So improving levels of engagement is a key area for strategic change in order to impact on productivity. Leadership that engages is conversational, relational and builds trust: it is actively transformational and engages the hearts and minds of employees.
Barbara Chidgey, who is an Ashridge Business School, accredited coach / facilitator and deliverer of leadership development interventions as well as being Executive Chair of the Leading Wales Awards Consortium will introduce the topic. Our guest, Greg Evans, Safety and Generation Director, Horizon and Nuclear Power will present a case study explaining the ways in which their leadership strategy has successfully engaged more of the employees and driven up productivity in their organisation.
We conclude with a facilitated table-top discussion to enable attendees to share practical ideas.
