Event description

Description

A one-day conference sharing fresh ideas and good practices for creating and promoting effective research data practices

St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, UK

Are you interested in how to achieve better management and universal sharing of the world’s data? This one-day conference featuring workshops, talks and demonstrations will address how researchers across many disciplines and librarians are finding increasing success in managing and providing greater access to research data.

The University of Cambridge together with SPARC Europe and Jisc invite you to join us to:

  • Learn and discuss how to better manage and share your research data
  • Hear success stories from programmes including Cambridge’s Data Champions, TU Delft’s Data Stewardship, and the University of Lancaster’s Data Conversations
  • Discuss with other researchers and librarians how they are encouraging others to make data more open.
  • Explore common data management-related challenges faced across the globe
  • Find new opportunities to build a stronger community that includes scientists and researchers at all levels, across all disciplines to help manage and share research data more effectively.

We intend to bring together researchers from both the sciences and humanities with those working to support and engage researchers with open research and Research Data Management (RDM), including librarians and scholarly communication specialists.

If you are looking to learn more and improve your research data practices, want to share your experiences managing and sharing data openly or are actively involved with research colleagues working together to manage data more effectively, you may want to attend.

Lightning talks

As well as featuring talks, focus groups and a panel discussion, the event will feature a series of community input talks in the form of lightning talks (5-10 minutes). We are seeking researchers or data professionals who have exciting and innovative stories to share about good data management practices, collaborations and methods of engaging colleagues, or even stories about barriers that had to be overcome and methods for doing this.

If you know colleagues who might be interested in speaking about their experience with Research Data Management and sharing, please encourage them to submit an abstract of their talk here: https://goo.gl/forms/d6PtSjlsskWvxU4y1

Deadline for submissions

Saturday 30 September 2017
