Event description
Are you interested in engaging with young people in schools and colleges?

About this Event

This course is designed specifically to develop your knowledge, skills and confidence in designing and delivering successful engagement activities in schools.

The course will :

- Improve your familiarity with school and classroom environments

– allow you to hear from researchers involved in school outreach

– enable you to find out why secondary teachers collaborate with researchers to deliver outreach activities

– explore techniques for engaging young people

– support you to generate your own activity ideas.

The morning will focus on developing your knowledge, skills and confidence and the afternoon will follow on from this with advice on how to plan and develop your own activities.

This training will be delivered by Dr Ceri Harrop, a freelance public engagement professional who has worked with The Royal Society, The Francis Crick Institute, Natural Science Research Council, Medical Research Council and others. Ceri has extensive experience of supporting scientists to engage the public in their work, with a particular emphasis on school engagement. Ceri co-designed and delivered training for the RCUK’s Schools-Universities Partnership Initiative [publicengagement.ac.uk].
