Event description
A great opportunity to raise your profile, reach new audiences and increase the impact of your research.

About this Event

Aston staff only.

Thursday 24 October 2019

12:00 to 14:00

Council Room, ground floor, Main Building

This two hour session will give you an overview of engaging with the media and policymakers and its benefits to you, your research group and the wider University.

You may already have some experience of communicating with journalists and/or policymakers and want to increase your profile or you may have no experience and are looking for an introduction.

A key channel for promoting our research is The Conversation, an independent source of news and views written by the academic and research community which is regularly republished by leading national and international media outlets. This session will include an introduction on how to pitch and write for The Conversation.

There is also a limited number of pre-bookable slots for 1:1s with the editor of The Conversation for you to discuss your research and its potential as the basis for an article.

You will also have the opportunity to meet our press team and policy advisor and learn about the support they can offer.

The session will also include a light working lunch.
