Description

Engaging young people and adults with Asperger Syndrome

Wednesday 20 September 2017, 9am – 5pm Cost: Free

Venue: Babington Group, 100 Broad Street, Birmingham B15 1AU

Asperger syndrome (AS), is a developmental disorder characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behaviour and interests. The condition can create significant difficulties for some individuals, inhibiting participation and attainment in education, securing sustained employment and meaningful relationships.

This full day training course aims to raise awareness about Asperger’s Syndrome and working with young people and adults with a diagnosis. By the end of the course, participants will:

  • improve their knowledge and awareness of Autism and in particular Asperger’s Syndrome
  • be able to confidently identify the symptoms and behaviours displayed by people with the condition
  • be able to implement strategies to engage and support.

The training will be delivered by AS Mentoring, who are a specialist agency providing mentoring support and job coaching for young people and adults with Asperger Syndrome. Further information about the services they provide is available on their website: https://asmentoring.co.uk

There is no cost to attend the training but places are limited, so please advise if you are unable to attend. Babington Group are kindly hosting the training at their new Birmingham Training Centre. Babington Group are a national training provider providing Apprenticeships, traineeships and Sector Based Work Academies.
