We would be exploring diverse ways of engaging our sphere; family, work, church, immediate community and beyond.

One of several such opportunities we would look at is Chaplaincy. Fundamentally, the role of the Chaplain is Spiritual oversight and provision of care in communities they are placed.

Chaplains are found in airports, football grounds, community centres, colleges, universities, hospitals, hospices, government departments, prison, farms, financial centres, retail centres, market place, emergency services, forces (army, airforce, navy, etc). The Speaker of House of Parliament has a Chaplain, so also the Queen!

It's 'Holistic', concerned with physical, social, emotional and spiritual health, and well being. You often need to work alongside other practitioners, depending on setting.

Chaplaincy is pastoral in nature, seeking to build trust through compassionate presence, offering help and support.

Increasingly, Chaplains are required to work in Multi-Faith settings, and within employer guidelines, offering open arms and a compassionate heart to all religions and even none.

Explore basics of chaplaincy from concepts, requirements, work setting, roles, to professional associations. We'll look at what it entails, If it's for you, volunteer, further study and work opportunities.
