About this Event

Engineering 21st Century Logistics Systems: a cultural perspective

An inaugural lecture by Professor Ed Sweeney

Professor of Logistics and Systems

Director of the Aston Logistics & Systems Institute

School of Engineering and Applied Science

Products and services reach the final user through complex global networks of companies and processes. Economic and societal well-being in the 21st Century is critically dependent on the logistics systems that underpin these supply chains. This lecture introduces the fascinating - but often invisible - world of logistics using a variety of cultural references to illustrate the key elements. It also explores how the effective application of engineering principles and concepts – particularly design and systems thinking – can help to address some of mega challenges facing logisticians and other supply chain professionals.
