About this event
Who the engineering and inclusion action planning workshop is for
Engineering EDI leads, curriculum leads, or people interested in personal development.
If you’re working on an internal action plan or development towards an equality, diversity, and inclusion goal, maybe the awarding gap, or recruitment targets, how do you find the time or right people to help you think ‘outside the box’? Or maybe you’ve done quite a lot and want to help stretch your team. And if EDI isn’t your primary job function, the time for planning might get squeezed by other deadlines. Participation will help you:
- Design inclusion in student teams
- Address the awarding gap for students from minority backgrounds
- Thread inclusion into problem-based learning
- Or bring another challenge you have and let us be your catalyst.
Why join an action planning workshop?
The Engineering Inclusion Forum (EIF) was launched in January 2022 with the purpose of introducing the Katalytik four module learning program to engineering teaching staff and EDI leads. Based on our own experiences over the last ten years, working with engineering departments and evidence-based practices, the forum introduces skills and translates social science research into digestible chunks for engineers. EIF members access quarterly action planning sessions that are also open to a wider audience.
The Katalytik approach shares our ideation and expertise and brings you together with others committed to making a difference.
Getting ready for September 2022
Taking time in May connects your colleagues with your ambition as well as making time to discuss ideas with others working facing similar challenges. This facilitated workshop will take you through our process for exploring the objectives, understanding the barriers, and filling in the gaps that make other plans fail. Time invested in Spring will enable you to put the training and recognition in pace ready for the next academic year, to make the academic year 2022/23 more inclusive and benefit everyone.
What are the outcomes?
By the end of the workshop you will have had focused discussions as well as broader conversations with others in similar situations and will have:
- A deeper understanding of the change you want to enact
- Refined the objectives you have set
- Explored the barriers to the change
- Defined solutions and recognition of progress.
Why not register your colleagues, or bring a team to give yourselves dedicated time away from email to focus on action plan development.
