Managing Electronic Product Safety

Learn Why and how to apply the principles of safety engineering to electronic products. This course explains the concepts behind the test standards, and the options for compliance, with worked examples and exercises throughout. Examples from the common international product tests standards will be used throughout the course:

IEC 60065, IEC 60335-1, IEC 60950-1, IEC 61010-1, IEC 62368-1

Course Objectives

By attending this course, you will learn how to engineer products with compliance built in, what tests are required and how to pass them; Delegates will gain the knowledge to ensure that their product design meets requried safety legislation and test standards. You will gain a practical understanding of the pricniples of safety, and know how to apply the tests and requirements of safety standards - from initial concept to finished product.

A basic level of electrical and electronic knowledge is required before attending the course.

Your Trainer

Alastair McLaughlin is a Senior Engineer and Product Safety Specialist at TÜV SÜD Product Service and has worked in Consumer Product Testing and Compliance Management since 1993.

Alastair has previously worked in PCB fabrication, major retailers' suppliers, computer & games console accessories, and major children's product manufacturers - joining TÜV SÜD Product Service in 2009.
