Engineering Open House Day

Engineering Open House Day aims to help children aged 5-16 and their parents/guardians understand what it’s like to work as an engineer or technologist.

Through this ongoing ambition, to inspire the next generation of engineers, we want to raise awareness about the fantastic, creative and exciting careers available in the engineering industry. Engineers bring ideas to life, turn dreams into reality and make solutions to big challenges possible. They design, invent, fix and improve and they are changing our world for the better.

Research tells us that 54% of children don’t know anything about careers in engineering and we’re trying to change that. The variety of careers in modern engineering is vast, yet demand for engineers in the UK far exceeds supply, so we need to encourage young people to feel excited about careers in STEM and nurture their natural curiosity about how the world works and why.
