About this event

In May 1487, a coronation was held in Christ Church Cathedral Dublin. The young child was hailed as King Edward VI. Those who pressed his claim, soon raised an army to invade England and depose the new king, Henry VII.

But how could a potential king of England be crowned in Ireland?

Join Paul Dryburgh, medieval collections specialist at The National Archives, for an overview of the history of English intervention in Ireland and its role in the political development of the British and Irish isles.

This talk showcases the Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland, an international digital humanities project that aims to reconstruct the lost state collection of Ireland following the destruction of the Public Record Office of Ireland in 1922.
