Hal Moggridge is a landscape architect, now consultant to Colvin & Moggridge, founded in 1969 when he joined the late Brenda Colvin CBE PPILA to continue the practice she had started in 1922. The practice’s varied work has included rural industrial projects, reservoirs, institutional landscapes, private parks and gardens and restoration of historic parks. From1992 until 2004 they acted as landscape consultants for the Inner London Royal Parks. He was president of the Landscape Institute (1979-81), served on the Royal Fine Art Commission (1989-99) and the National Trust Architectural Panel (1991-2009), and is on both the UK and International ICOMOS Cultural Landscapes Committees. In the 1970s Hal played a key role in restoring the Capability Brown masterpiece at Blenheim, thus reviving the national interest in Brown and the Georgian natural landscape garden. Hal has never lost his feeling for the importance of views that his rediscovery of Brown inspired, and more recently, his pioneering work defining the spatial character of important urban views in Edinburgh and London has won him international acclaim. His book Slow Growth: on the Art of Landscape Architecture was published in 2017.
